(More customer reviews)I bought a pair of these (not from Amazon, BTW) to replace the plastic ones that came in a pair of Kustom speakers.I thought that they would be safer, since I will be placing another midrange cabinet on top of them.
NO, NO, NO!These are poorly built and do not have a maximum weight specification.However, the Kustom speaker weighs 42 pounds and when I put the 35 pound speaker on top of it, the welds on the bottom flange of the OnStage speaker insert began to fail.The speaker tipped, and if I wouldn't have been there to catch it the Bose 901 would have hit the deck.
Fortunately, this happened in my studio instead of on a dance floor.Fortunately, my hand only got smashed a little bit.I have contacted the original reseller to warn them about this dangerous piece of junk and will also warn others as I see the opportunity.Nobody out there needs to have their gear falling on the audience, possibly killing somebody and ending up in a major lawsuit.
If you are looking for a RATED and SAFE replacement, spend the extra money on Ultimate Support's cast steel piece.This is one case where saving a few bucks is NOT worth it.The list price on the US cup is around $30 each, way cheaper than a lawsuit.
