(More customer reviews)These are a great set of satellite speakers. They actually comprise twin 3 1/2" "woofers" and a single titanium tweeter in each speaker (the upgrade over the other JBL satellites is the 2nd 3 1/2" driver).
As the other reviewer noted, these are satellites and should be used as such. They certainly offer superior sound to typical home-theater-in-a-box systems. I bought these for a set of surrounds on my living room HT system. I prefer full towers for my mains when listening to music, and the JBL sub I have delivers more than enough bass. As surrounds, these complement that setup perfectly. Crisp, clear mids and highs. Delivers far better sound than the Polk 4" bookshelf speakers I was using before. As long as you don't expect to use these as a set of mains without a sub, they are perfect.
2 other things to note: 1st, they look fantastic. High gloss black finish and smooth lines. But, if you do like the look of your speakers w/o grills, the way the grill edges blend smoothly with the speaker, they will look odd hung without the grills. Much taller than they are wide (only about 5" wide), they do really well in corners. With the shape, they actually tuck way back in the corner - much better than any small rectangular bookshelf.
The last thing to note is the wall-mount brackets. I'm not sure if they changed the brackets included since the last reviewer posted, but these actually come with 2 full sets of brackets. The 1st are so-so, basically a L-shaped piece of black metal, one side screws into the wall, the other wraps under the speaker and you run a couple screws into the pre-threaded holes in the bottom of the speaker. Nothing special - and that may have been the flexing.
The 2nd set of brackets are fantastic. Hard to describe, but it's a pretty simple and common design. You basically screw a bolt with a 1" plastic ball on the end of it into the back of the speaker (pre-threaded), and then that ball is clamped into a plastic bracket held with 4 screws into the wall. It is SNUG, no play whatsoever. Plus it's fairly adjustable, you can angle the speakers on both axes, and even twist them horizontal, diagonal. FWIW, these are the identical brackets JBL uses on the 5lb N24's.
Great speakers for their intended purpose. It's really tough to find a good pair of surround speakers that don't take up your entire living room, and these are exactly that.
