Let me start by saying this is an awesome mid-sized tower computer case. However, there are a few flaws. I'm gonna keep it short but sweet:

Pros: Plenty, I won't go into details, but here's a quick list: Compact, easy to assemble/use, outstanding airflow capabilities, positive airflow, dust shields, heat absorption material on the side panels, as well as the clear side panels so you can keep an eye on your water coolers (if applicable), plenty of rom bays and well as 7 hard drive bays!

Cons (hoping SilverStone will read it and make the corrections on future models):

- A little tight, if you're an overclocker, and size is not an issue, I hear there's a full size version of the Fortress available. Look for it. I could have used a little more space, but it was sufficient for what I needed it for. Not really Silverstone's fault, but my fault for not looking to see if there's a larger size. Just letting you other guys know in case you're thinking of which size to go with. If size is not an issue, go with the bigger one. But this one still rocks!

- CP05 hot swapable SATA 2 adapters. One came with the case, but just as a teaser. I didn't care much for it because I did not need hot swapable drives, but when it came to cable management to make the cables in the back neat, it became a nightmare without these things. I kinda wish I had 5 more for all 6 drives. Went online to search for it and they do sell them, however the ones on the market now are straight connectors and not the 90 degree angled one that came with the case. What a tease! I called Silverstone and they said they don't have nor do they make one that came with the case. Bummer!

- Hard drive brackets not tool-less! "Why, oh why?!? They could have come up with a better design for this!" -- my exact thoughts while I was putting in the 24 screws (4 for each of my drives) for my 6 drive setup.

- 5.25 drive bays, quick lock/release mechanism, nice! But the contruction needed work. It didn't line up correctly with a 3rd party fan control unit, so I had to switch it out and use their brand. Also, their instructions didn't mention the locking hooks on the back side, so I was fumbling with it for a little bit till I figured it out.

Overall, awesome product and I still give it 5 stars. Just wish the little stuff mentioned above were done better. Hope this helps someone. And if anyone knows where to get the CP05 with the 90 degree connector, like the one that came with the case, please let me know!!!! Share!

Product Description:
More than two years after the introduction of the world's first uni-body PC chassis, the SilverStone Temjin TJ07, a new product line was created to extend this unique construction further into other applications. The first model for this line is the Fortress FT01, which sports the same super strong uni-body frame as its predecessor but with even more sleeker profile thanks to its smaller size. Designed with positive air pressure concept, it enables better cooling performance than traditional chassis but also helps to prevent dust from penetrating into the chassis by use of filters on intake fans and forcing air out of the chassis through unfiltered vents and gaps. Comprised of modern touches such as quick release drive cages and dual 180mm fans, this case is easily the top choice for anyone looking to assemble a top of the line midsize system.

Also if your looking for cooling this case has it all 5-120mm fans 2 from the top and one exhaust fan and one for the hard drive. Plus and extra one in the middle for the 2 graphic cards. This is my second Silverstone case quality and style is awesome, Silverstone puts alot of thought in there product! A+++++!!!!!

Product Description:
The Temjin TJ09 is the first SilverStone chassis designed with graphics card cooling as one of the priorities. To meet this challenge, a brand new mid-section air duct was created to bypass the hard drive cage, allowing the strategically placed 120mm to draw cool air from outside of the chassis and blow it directly onto the expansion slot area. CPU and hard drives are also cooled exclusively by 120mm fans to maximize airflow while reducing noise. Covered in styling reminiscent of beautiful chassis of years past, the TJ09's advanced structure is second in stiffness only to the unibody designed TJ07. If you have been waiting for a chassis with plenty of technical and aesthetic excellence worthy of an upgrade, then the TJ09 is the one.

Well designed lightweight case with high quality quiet fans. While the case is large on the inside, it is mostly empty. This does allow for good air flow to help cool the inside components. However, there are only 6 slots for internal hard disks, 8 would be a better number for a case this large. The price of this case is also one of its big drawbacks. At $350, it is definitely one of the most expensive cases I have ever bought. There are many cases that will satisfy the need for a quiet case on a lower budget.

I bought this case for a home PC build with an Intel Core i7 CPU.

The quality of this case is absolutely amazing. The steel and aluminum material are excellent and not cheap and flimsy like some of the plastic covers out there.

This case is big, it is not very tall, but it is long, so keep that in mind. It has plenty of space for HDD's and the various components; with the large size providing ample room for good airflow. I particularly like the PSU being at the bottom because the motherboard and the add-on cards are easier to work with -- after you've put in the removable motherboard tray and don't want to take it out.

About the only thing I would change in this case would be to allow more space between the back cover and the chassis/motherboard tray so that you can route cables around the back easier. I routed as many of the cables behind the motherboard as I could, but some of the power cables are too thick and won't fit. As it is, the build is very tidy and clean with the window providing a nice look into the case.

Highly Recommended!

This is a big case but easy to put together.Almost any size power supply will fit in it.Plenty of room left after I install my 3 video cards. Each fan along with the intake for power supply has a filter. This is a great case that will keep your components cool but will take up a lot of space.

The only bad thing about this case for me is it can only hold 3 hard drives, but it does come with tray for an SSD hard drive.

This case is totally awesome. Very solid construction and well worth every dollar I paid for it. The three fans on the bottom keep everything cool inside. The case rotates the motherboard 90 degrees, which give easier access and does a better job at allowing the air from the bottom fans to pass over keeping things nice and cool.

Product Description:
Combining two of SilverStone's most distinctive computer chassis breakthroughs - the unibody construction of the Temjin TJ07, introduced in 2005, and the 90-degrees rotated motherboard mount of the RAVEN RV01 from 2008 - the Fortress FT02 advances both chassis construction and thermodynamics in a dynamic, streamlined design. With the Fortress FT02, SilverStone engineers have combined the rigidity of unibody construction with the unparalleled cooling layout of the RAVEN chassis, adding a hot-swappable hard drive cage and an acoustically padded interior for maximum versatility. The result is increased structural strength, increased storage capacity, and whisper-quiet operation. Available in black and silver colors, its elegant outer shell is perfectly accentuated by the U-shaped unibody aluminum frame that not only provides unique styling, but also functional purpose. The bottom gap from the frame to the main body actually serves as the main air intake area for its three massive 180mm fans, making it even suitable for use on carpeted surfaces. For professionals and enthusiasts looking to build a silent workstation or gaming machine with maximum performance, there is no better than the SilverStone Fortress FT02.

Nice looking roomy case, steel construction for better sound insulation than aluminum.Provides enough room for state-of-the-art graphics cards, CPU and cooling, but looks more appropriate in the living room than a tower.I suppose I would have preferred if the vent on the CPU side were sealed by default, but it's a minor niggle.Looks much better than the first image here; make sure to check out the other images, as the case is in fact a very dark matte black.

Silverstone FT02S Fortress Aluminum Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Silverstone FT02S Fortress Aluminum Mid-Tower Chassis
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a case that would be both quiet and keep my overclocked components cool.So far this case has been excellent in both regards.

For those who may not be familiar with Silverstone's new case designs, this case is unique.Instead of the motherboard being vertical and plugging everything into the back of a case, this one has the motherboard mounted horizontally and you plug everything into the top. This provides allot of benefits, but is very different from almost every other case on the market. In short, the FT02's strengths are also it's weaknesses - depending on how you look at it.

I've been building PCs since 1990.This isn't a simple case for an inexperienced builder. The FT02 requires forethought, planning, and careful execution to get the most out of it.I highly recommend that anyone considering this case go to SilverStone's web site and read the manual first. The manual does a very good job of explaining clearance for components and how to install everything.

What's good:
1. Runs Quiet and Cool: Outside air comes in through the bottom and is exhausted out the top. This allows for natural heat convection.
2. Airflow: There are 3 180mm fans on the bottom of the case that blow air up, and 1 120mm fan on the top for exhaust. There are 3 switches under the top panel, 1 for each fan, that can be set to low or high.Personally I have all 4 fans controlled through the fan connectors on my motherboard so I leave the switches on high.
3. Keeps the Dust Out: This case employs positive pressure and filters to keep dust out.3 180mm fans blow air in and only 1 120mm fan blows air out.The 3 180mm fans on the bottom each have their own intake filter. When more air is coming in than going out, we call that "positive pressure" because the air pressure inside the case is greater than the pressure outside the case. Most cases have more air going out than coming in which results in negative pressure inside the case. The main downside to negative pressure is that air is drawn into the case from every crack, orifice, seam, etc., and none of those entrance points have filters. The result is that dust gets into the case.Whereas with positive pressure, air only goes out through cracks, orifices, etc.The only air that comes into this case is through the 3 180mm fans with their filters. To keep this case performing well, remember to clean the filters regularly. It would've been nice if the filters were accessible without taking a side panel off.
4. 5 Vibration Damped 3.5" Hard Drive Cages: There are 5 hot-swap drive bays. Each comes with a plastic cage to mount a drive and uses rubber grommets to minimize vibration.1 of the 5 bays comes with a SilverStone CP05 SATA II hot-swap connector. For the other 4 you just use cables as normal.SilverStone offers the CP05 hot-swap connector separately if you want the other bays to be swappable - they tend to run for $5-$10 which seems reasonable. To some folks, plastic drive cages may be a bad thing, but I prefer plastic. They dampen vibration and they'll never scratch the drives, unlike aluminum and steel drive cages. Many servers from the likes of HP, Dell, and IBM also use plastic drive cages.

What could be bad depending on your situation:
1. Top Panel Clearance: Because everything plugs into the top of the case, there's a perforated top panel that covers all of the ports. If you have any cables that use an adapter (like a VGA to DVI adapter), there may not be enough clearance between the port and the top panel. This wasn't an issue for me.Having said that, I really like being able to pop the top cover off and have easy access to see and work with the ports rather than pulling my case away from the wall and awkwardly fumbling with trying to see and connect cables and ports.
2. Door On the Right Side: Since this case mounts the motherboard differently, the primary access into the case is from the right side panel instead of the left side. For me, this meant re-locating the case so I wouldn't have to jump through hoops to get inside it, but it wasn't a big deal for me.
3. Cable Management: The case is designed to route cables behind the motherboard, but the clearance from the motherboard tray to the left side panel is a little tight. So it took a little extra effort to position the cables flat.In my case, the left panel bulges out ever-so-slightly.I don't notice it and neither has anyone who's seen it.So while I like the cable management, I do with they'd provided an extra 3/8" - 1/2" of clearance to accommodate thicker and/or stiffer cables.
4. 5.25" Drive Length: Because of the motherboard position and SilverStone's need to try to keep the size of this case reasonable, there's limited clearance for the length of 5.25" devices like DVD drives. It wasn't a problem for me, but it's possible there are some long 5.25" devices that won't fit in this case.
5. Top Panel Ports: Microphone, Headphones, and 2 USB connectors, but no FireWire port(s).Personally I would've liked a FireWire port on the top, but it's not that big of a deal.
6. Ground Clearance: Because the primary air comes from the bottom, the case has about 1" of ground clearance on the bottom. So the air intake may be obstructed if you plan on putting this case on thick carpet.I have it on a platform, so it wasn't an issue for me.
7. Case Depth:24" from front to back, which is allot, but keep in mind that most full tower cases run 20" deep or more, so it's not ridiculous.I don't mind the depth, but this may be a problem in some situations.Note that the power supply intake in the rear of the case will prevent one from pushing the case right up against something in the rear. However if you have a power supply like mine which doesn't have a side intake, it's a good thing because you can push the case to within 1/2" of a wall or desk or whatever.Since this case has no ports in the back and my power supply happens to not have a side intake, I like being able to push case right up against the wall.
8. Hybrid Aluminum & Steel: Just so you know, this case has both steel and aluminum construction. It's not an all-aluminum case. This isn't a LAN-party case by any means - it's way too big and heavy for that.I'm happy with that because all-aluminum cases tend to be noisier and are more easily damaged, and my case stays home.Apparently the uni-body aluminum that they advertise is only talking about a single piece of aluminum that makes up the front, bottom, and back of the case. The top of the case is sheathed in thin-gauge aluminum, and the 5.25" drive bay covers are made of brushed aluminum.Everything else is steel, including the side panels and the motherboard tray.
9. Side Panels: Each side panel attaches via 2 thumbscrews on the top of the case under the top panel.I would've preferred if they had designed a latching mechanism to quickly and easily remove and secure the side panels. This can be inconvenient if you're someone who's constantly going into their case. The top panel itself is fixed via 4 snap-in connectors and works fine.

The bad:
1. Fit & Finish: I expected a little more from a SilverStone case that costs this much. The 5.25" drive bay covers are brushed aluminum and appear different than the front of the case making the front have a bit of a 2-toned look. They're both silver: just different shades. The seams between the 5.25" drive bay covers and the front of the case were slightly uneven, but I fixed that by loosening the screws and repositioning the 5.25" covers. The seams between the top cover and the case could be better. My case has no blemishes.Overall I'm satisfied. If I had it to do over again, I might have opted for the black version of this case - the FTO2B.

I would've liked to give 4.5 stars, but since that's not an option, I'll give it 5.It does what it does very well and I'm very happy with it.It's worth repeating the FT02's strengths are also it's weaknesses. The great noise and airflow characteristics, by necessity, mean that many things considered normal for a case have to be handled differently with the FT02.It isn't the absolute quietest case out there, nor does it have the absolute best airflow/cooling properties, but it manages to be excellent in both of those areas which is very rare.Trust me - I've used full tower cases from CoolerMaster, Thermaltake, Lian Li, etc.So far, no other case has come close to being this quiet while keeping my overclocked components this cool.

SilverStone Grandia GD02B Aluminum/Steel Micro ATX Media Center/HTPC Case - Retail (Black) Review

SilverStone Grandia GD02B Aluminum/Steel Micro ATX Media Center/HTPC Case - Retail
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all let me say that overall this case is well built with quite cooling fans and an acceptable depth (about 14 3/16 without rear cables - right angle cables best choice for tight fit) for many home theater cabinets.

One issue of some concern is the position of the hard drives and power supply. With two hard drives installed, one WD Raptor 10,000 RPM 36GB for the operating system and another Seagate 7200 RPM 1TB for music and movies, the hard drive cage and drives appear to get hotter to the touch than I would like. There is no room for hard drive cooling with both drives installed. My solution will be to remove the 36GB Raptor and install a quite hard drive cooler which will take up the space of the second hard drive.

A second issue is the CPU cooler. I purchased a quite low profile Zalman but it was too high with the CD/DVD drive holder installed. I then purchased the fanless CPU cooler from SilverStone thinking they would have one that fits properly. By the way I have a BioStar TA790GX XE and an AMD 5050e 45 watt processor so heat is less of a factor. If you contact SilverStone they will tell you the cooling capabilities with regard to acceptable processors. Anyway, the SilverStone CPU cooler works fine but partially blocks the Slot for a video card. If I decide to utilize the Hybrid CrossFire in the future some of the cooler fins will need to be removed. Because this cooler can handle a 65 watt or greater processors this may not be an issue. Some investigation will be necessary.

This case looks beautiful in my black TV stand under an equally beautiful Samsung HL61A750 HD DLP TV. I went through many cases to finally land on this one for my first HTPC.

Pros:
- Beautiful front panel. Best part I like is that the optical drive and card reader's face is flush with the case and it does not try to mask that face with something else, and still neatly hidden behind the flaps.
- Solid construction. There are a TON of screws. 4 to remove the top panel, 4 to remove that middle bar under it, 2 to remove the optical drive cage, 4 to remove the 3.5" external drive cage, 4 to remove the 6 HDD cage. You get the idea. But once it's all put together, the computer will be rock solid.
- Padded HDD cage to reduce noise from the hard drives.
- Very spacious. Can easily fit a mATX mobo without breaking a sweat.
- Also accommodates a full size power supply.
- 4 USB ports in the front and one 1394 port.
- Comes with all necessary screws.

Cons: (Not many, but worth noting)
- Does not come with a single case fan. Has space for 2 in the back, one on the side and two in front of the HDD cage, but Silverstone does not include a single case fan. Had to keep my case open for one night because I hadn't received the case fans I had ordered until then.
- Motherboard is too close to the right edge of the case. I couldn't fit a 25mm thick case fan on the side vent, because it was right over the CPU FAN connector on my ASUS M3N78-EM motherboard. Need to get a 20mm or 15mm thick fan for the side vent. Although, I already have front two fans for intake and rear two for exahust, so my case dosen't really need it at the moment.

Note: Keep a long philips screw driver with a magnetized head for this. You'll need it for those 200 different screws ;).

(More customer reviews)
I have been using this case for a couple of months now, and, while I would stand by the four star review (one star downfor relatively loud fans and no thought to cable management), I like it a whole lot better than I did at first.

After some small-fingered gymnastics to get a large gaming mainboard and a huge pci-e video card tucked in here with my non-modular power cables, the very last thing I wanted to do was open this thing up again, but I was getting tired of listening to my previously quiet cpu heatsink fan kick into jet mode halfway through a netflix movie. It was so loud that the fairly loud fans the case comes with became irrelevant.

So, I needed to work on the airflow.Since I was going to have to pull this big baby out of its space anyway, I decided to swap out the original fans and see if I couldn't get the airflow higher at the same time I was trying to get the noise lower.

Now, I originally put a KN8 SLI motherboard and an enormous video card in here without removing the center hard drive cage, but it was really tight all the way around. Bad idea - even though I had stuffed the excess power cables in there, it was too cramped and tight for the fans to move any air.Although the case is large, there really isn't very much headroom for the cpu cooler, so going with a completely passive one of those wasn't an option.Instead, I bought 2 80mm silent fans to replace the two rear case fans and also bought two silent 120mm fans for the front and one side of the case.Removing the center cage gave me enough extra room to tether my power cables to the reinforcement bar. Now, my heat sensitive cpu fan never gets above a whisper.

The case is solid and reinforced.I put a fairly heavy 28" lcd tv on top with not a groan or a strain or a whimper. If loud fans bother you, figure that into your costs. But the case itself is gorgeous and extremely well made.Setting it up could not have been easier. The PCI covers come right out - no cheap punch-outs.The cables are well-marked and seem to be of good quality.

Overall, I'm very happy with this case.I'd be happier if it came with quieter fans, but this is an amazing htpc case for the price.

There are very few 1U HTPC cases on the market today; they're all either hulking monstrosities or Shuttle boxes that don't sit well with your other components. This case is of solid yet light construction, and makes the most of the tight internal space.

Power supply uses an external box, which is annoying but not really a bad thing because it removes a lot of heat (an HTPC's biggest enemy) from the case. The PSU connector may feel loose, but doesn't actually come out without some effort. Similarly, the front panel door feels loose and sloppy despite its metal construction and hinges.

Because it's such a flat space, don't expect to be able to use your stock CPU cooling; you'll need an EXTREMELY low-profile CPU heat-sink/fan; and most that call themselves low-profile don't come close to fitting. I've only found two that are actually low enough, and went with the SILVERSTONE Nitrogon NT07-775 CPU Cooler, which fit perfectly.

If your motherboard has the SATA ports in the front right corner (like most do), definitely buy 90-degree SATA cables, because the front panel drive mount sits right on top of them, and won't fit with a straight SATA cable connected.

Minus one star because it doesn't have (or have space for) a front-panel IR port.

Due to the limited space/airflow, I recommend using an SSD drive in this box. It also keeps it amazingly quiet.

Product Description:
With an increasing number of mobile CPUs moving to desktop systems, SilverStone engineers once again saw a great opportunity to create a case that would truly take advantage of this movement. The result is an amazingly slim 68mm (2.68 inches) tall enclosure that is still capable of accommodating a Micro-ATX motherboard and widely available storage components. For people who prefer to build a system that is easy on the eyes (and occasionally, out of sight) with power to do almost anything, the LC19 is perfect.

This case is compact and well designed.I installed an ATX board, 3 hard drives, 3 cards, and an optical drive.I expected it to be difficult to get everything in and still have room for air flow but it was slick as can be.

SilverStone Lascala LC20S-M ATX HTPC Home Entertainment PC Case with VFD, Remote Control, Front USB, FireWire and Audio Ports (Silver) Review

I wanted to upgrade my HTPC to fit in my A/V rack. Initially I was going for the Silverstone LC 16M. It had great looks, a cool screen and very good reviews. I had some concerns though regarding its scalability. I have 4 hard disks, 500 GB each and a passively cooled VGA card that takes quite a bit of volume because of the heat sinks all around. In the end I went for the LC20 M and compromised a bit on the looks in favor of its excellent scalability. I managed to install everything inside with no issues. I highly recomend this case for the serious HTPC owners out there. If you don't have space requiremnts, the LC 16M looks more attractive but is a bit limiting. Overall Silverstone cases are far supirior to any of its competitors that I could find.

SilverStone TJ10B-WNV TJ10 NVIDIA Edition Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case (Black) Review

I purchased this case roughly one month prior to writing this review. As such, I have gained a good deal of experience using it and will share my opinions:

Price: Initially upon seeing the price, I asked myself: "What will this case offer that similar sized, cheaper cases (IE: Thermaltake Armor) won't?"Well as the rest of my review will show, this case proved to be a great value for the money because of the well though out design/engineering, build quality, features, and ease of use.Ultimately, price will not scale linearly as a sub hundred dollar Armor ultimately house the same computer and keep relatively the same temperatures as this case; if you value ease of swapping components, good design and features, amongst other premium features, this case is worth the extra cost.

Build Quality/Design: This case features a much higher build quality throughout the case, and this is readily noticeable when pulling out hard drive trays and motherboard tray amongst other things. You notice the edges are nicely tapered and even the internal components are painted and are constructed out of the same quality metal as the more visible components. The plexiglass window is resilient to scratches.Every component has a very solid feel (door hinges, port bay on top of the case, drive bay door) and all the pieces align with precision, leaving no unsightly gaps. The CD drive bays are an example of the level of quality in this case: The blank doors that need to be removed are held in via 2 screws as opposed to the breakable doors included on cheaper cases. Also, the case stands/feet are of the same fit and finish as the stands/feet on high-end home theater components. The only design flaw is that hiding the wires behind the case is very difficult without a dremel to remove part of the vertical support bar; without making this modification, the right-side door will not close without flexing. Also, one warning towards build quality I have is that the paint used on the case scratches relatively easily.I placed a 17 inch Samsung LCD monitor on it for 5 minutes (plastic base) while connecting the wiring to the rear and upon lifting it, small scratches were left and had to be removed using Menzerna Final Polish II with a Flex polisher.

Features: This case has almost every feature you could want in a full tower (or supertower) case.It supports ATX (in a pseudo-BTX power supply at the bottom configuration), Extended ATX, Micro-ATX, and SSI motherboards. It includes all the accessories you need for building a quiet PC such as vibration dampeners and quiet fans. The only thing missing that some may need is an eSATA port on the top mounted port headers. The case has a very nice nVidia color theme of black and green (with the exception of the blue LEDs) and the well engineered fan placement creates ample airflow that leads to equalized case air pressure and temperatures. Also, the case is relatively light weight (not flimsy) which makes moving the case less painful. (NOTE: If you value ESA as a feature, Silverstone makes a version of this case with ESA support)

Ease of use:Between the removable motherboard, easy to install expansion card slots (a nice pass through hole to insert your screwdriver through), removable hard drive bays, pre-installed fans, and multi-configuration motherboard headers...this case makes putting together a new PC a very easy and fun ordeal.

Conclusion: Overall, I give this case a 92/100 (Highly Recommended) and if I had to make my purchasing decision again, I would go with this case again!

Additional Notes: Worth checking out is the Silverstone TJ-07, as it has many similar features, but has more of the Apple/Lian Li case look which many people prefer.

SilverStone Micro ATX Desktop Computer Case with Carrier Handle SG04B-FH (Black) Review

SilverStone Micro ATX Desktop Computer Case with Carrier Handle SG04B-FH
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just bought this case from Amazon due to low shipping rates and generous RMA policies.

Things I liked:
- Looks SHARP. Brushed aluminum front bezel, texture painted side panels. One of the best looking cases I've seen.
- Solid die-cast aluminum handle.
- Detailed installation manual.
- Can handle video cards up to 10.5" long.
- 2 120mm intake fans.
- Removable hard-drive cage with anti-vibration fixtures.

Not so much:
- Front bezel is held closed by 2 screws. Upon opening it, I broke off the bottom hinge. Probably my own fault but be careful as these hinges are fragile.
- No Firewire or eSATA ports on front.
- Heavier than I was hoping.
- Handle hurts my nerd-hands when case is weighted down with computer guts.

Things you should know:
- This case is a bit wider than a normal case due to the position of the ATX power supply.
- Make sure your CPU's heat sink doesn't exceed 82mm in height.

All in all, I love this case and would recommend it to anyone building a small form-factor computer.
