SilverStone FT01B-W Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Uni-Body Computer Case with Window Side Panel - Retail (Black) Review

SilverStone FT01B-W Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Uni-Body Computer Case with Window Side Panel - Retail
Average Reviews:

Let me start by saying this is an awesome mid-sized tower computer case. However, there are a few flaws. I'm gonna keep it short but sweet:

Pros: Plenty, I won't go into details, but here's a quick list: Compact, easy to assemble/use, outstanding airflow capabilities, positive airflow, dust shields, heat absorption material on the side panels, as well as the clear side panels so you can keep an eye on your water coolers (if applicable), plenty of rom bays and well as 7 hard drive bays!

Cons (hoping SilverStone will read it and make the corrections on future models):

- A little tight, if you're an overclocker, and size is not an issue, I hear there's a full size version of the Fortress available. Look for it. I could have used a little more space, but it was sufficient for what I needed it for. Not really Silverstone's fault, but my fault for not looking to see if there's a larger size. Just letting you other guys know in case you're thinking of which size to go with. If size is not an issue, go with the bigger one. But this one still rocks!

- CP05 hot swapable SATA 2 adapters. One came with the case, but just as a teaser. I didn't care much for it because I did not need hot swapable drives, but when it came to cable management to make the cables in the back neat, it became a nightmare without these things. I kinda wish I had 5 more for all 6 drives. Went online to search for it and they do sell them, however the ones on the market now are straight connectors and not the 90 degree angled one that came with the case. What a tease! I called Silverstone and they said they don't have nor do they make one that came with the case. Bummer!

- Hard drive brackets not tool-less! "Why, oh why?!? They could have come up with a better design for this!" -- my exact thoughts while I was putting in the 24 screws (4 for each of my drives) for my 6 drive setup.

- 5.25 drive bays, quick lock/release mechanism, nice! But the contruction needed work. It didn't line up correctly with a 3rd party fan control unit, so I had to switch it out and use their brand. Also, their instructions didn't mention the locking hooks on the back side, so I was fumbling with it for a little bit till I figured it out.

Overall, awesome product and I still give it 5 stars. Just wish the little stuff mentioned above were done better. Hope this helps someone. And if anyone knows where to get the CP05 with the 90 degree connector, like the one that came with the case, please let me know!!!! Share!

Product Description:
More than two years after the introduction of the world's first uni-body PC chassis, the SilverStone Temjin TJ07, a new product line was created to extend this unique construction further into other applications. The first model for this line is the Fortress FT01, which sports the same super strong uni-body frame as its predecessor but with even more sleeker profile thanks to its smaller size. Designed with positive air pressure concept, it enables better cooling performance than traditional chassis but also helps to prevent dust from penetrating into the chassis by use of filters on intake fans and forcing air out of the chassis through unfiltered vents and gaps. Comprised of modern touches such as quick release drive cages and dual 180mm fans, this case is easily the top choice for anyone looking to assemble a top of the line midsize system.

Athenatech A100BB M.ATX Mini Tower Desktop Chassis 1 1 (2) Drive Bays - Black Review

This is a really nice small computer case.Even though it's quite small, it still accepts full size PCI cards, instead of those harder to find half height PCI cards. The case also has a really bright blue LED that makes the case stand out a bit.The case also has two rear fans that keep the system cool.

The power supply however included with this model is only rated at 200 watts, and is pretty weak. It could barely power my system which only consists of a Pentium D 805 processor, a fanless nVidia graphics card, and a 200gb SATA hard drive (no optical drives). Athenatech has released a replacement model that features a power supply with 275 watts.I was able to obtain such model (exact same case, just better power supply) and have been happy ever since.

This case is awesome just what the doctor asked for has plenty of room for all your hardware. Also if your looking for cooling this case has it all 5-120mm fans 2 from the top and one exhaust fan and one for the hard drive. Plus and extra one in the middle for the 2 graphic cards. This is my second Silverstone case quality and style is awesome, Silverstone puts alot of thought in there product! A+++++!!!!!

Product Description:
The Temjin TJ09 is the first SilverStone chassis designed with graphics card cooling as one of the priorities. To meet this challenge, a brand new mid-section air duct was created to bypass the hard drive cage, allowing the strategically placed 120mm to draw cool air from outside of the chassis and blow it directly onto the expansion slot area. CPU and hard drives are also cooled exclusively by 120mm fans to maximize airflow while reducing noise. Covered in styling reminiscent of beautiful chassis of years past, the TJ09's advanced structure is second in stiffness only to the unibody designed TJ07. If you have been waiting for a chassis with plenty of technical and aesthetic excellence worthy of an upgrade, then the TJ09 is the one.

This case takes you by looks. It is a modest decorative mesh front case with just enough silver contrast to make it mean. For a microATX case it has plenty of room inside. It is an ATX case built on a BTX format. The drives installation location gives it the airflow specification similar to a BTX case. The installation design requires very few screws and there are locking drive bay latches that hold the drives in nice and tight. Overall, this is a great PC case. There were very few inperfections. The case side does not fit flush; therefore, leaving a small gap revealing the steal frame underneath. The mesh front is designed in a parabola and is relatively soft making it easy to dent in.

Cooler Master has introduced the 54x range of computer cases custom tailored for the Micro-ATX form factor. Smaller and lighter, your computer can be placed in many more convenient locations to best suit your work area. A tool-free design offers easy installation of your drives and media bays, and the durable case has a meshed front panel with side venting holes plus one 12cm fan in the front and dual 8cm rear exhaust fans (available separately) will keep the air flowing to enable your components remain operating at peak performance. While its compact size saves space, there's plenty of room inside for a pair of 5.25" drives along with four 3.5" drives with two being exposed and the remaining pair being hidden. There are also four rear expansion slots. The convenient front-mounted I/O Panel lets you easily connect two USB devices as well as a microphone and headset without having to fumble with wires behind the case.

Well designed lightweight case with high quality quiet fans. While the case is large on the inside, it is mostly empty. This does allow for good air flow to help cool the inside components. However, there are only 6 slots for internal hard disks, 8 would be a better number for a case this large. The price of this case is also one of its big drawbacks. At $350, it is definitely one of the most expensive cases I have ever bought. There are many cases that will satisfy the need for a quiet case on a lower budget.

Cooler Master Cosmos ATX Full Tower Case Silver - (RC-1000-KSN1-GP) Review

Cooler Master Cosmos ATX Full Tower Case Silver -
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I basically divide cases into 3 types:

1. Economical cases which serve only to hold your hardware.

2. Gamer type cases can be cheap or one of the finest on the market, but they all offer features that make them flashy, such as windows, lights, etc.

3. Luxury cases I define as cases that are solid, very well built and made of top end materials, but are more artistic and stylish than gamer cases and are appropriate for your home office up to your corporate office.

This is one of the finest "Luxury" cases I have ever built a system in, and I have built well over 50.An aluminum skin all around with noise blocking material installed from the factory is just the start of a long list of quality features.

I would have liked to have 1 or 2 more 5 1/2 bays, but that is more of a personal preference.Above that, this is a solid, stunning case (much more so in person) that will leave most buyers content with their decision to buy this one.

UPDATE:After building several systems in this case for customers, a serious flaw became very apparent. The HDD (Hard Drive) bays basically act just like mini toaster ovens on the drives due to the enclosed design and lack of any ventilation or cooling. After doing a dual OS system install on one computer, the two installed (Raptor 150's) were so blazing hot you couldn't hold them in your hand for over a second.

REMEDY: Normally I would discontinue using a case with a flaw like this, but I like this case so much I decided to search for a solution instead, and found a great one if you WATER COOL your PC.

Get one Koolance Hard Drive Hydra-Pak soft Cooler #HD-50-L06 (HD)for each drive. The cooler fits between the drive and the removeable hard drive tray and fit right back into the slot. You CAN NOT use the Koolance dual drive cooler due to the way the hard drive bays are designed on this model. This solution allows you to "sandwich" the water cooling Hydra-Pak between the HDD and tray and have the water connections easily available on the back-side.

I water cool all my systems, and this solution turned a serious over-heating and HDD killer into a constant 20-24 temp.reading on the hard drives at all times (readings from a Koolance Exos 2 LX at both idle and heavy, sustained system testing)! If your not up to speed on temps., that's a pretty impressive range for a hard drive under heavy use.Went from a problem to a positive if you have decided to use water cooling on your new rig.

If your not water cooling, don't mess around too long before finding a good air solution or you will be replacing your hard drives and having the huge headache of re-installing everything back on new ones. The extreme high temps will be a huge burden on your HDD's over time if it doesn't knock them out sooner than later and cause a source of high temperature inside your case that makes all the fan cooling just that much more inefficient. The High Performance Raptor 10,000 drives I was using produce more heat than normal 7,200 drives so the problem may not be as extreme using most hard drives, but it will still be an issue that needs to be addressed sooner or later.

SilverStone TJ10-BW Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail
Average Reviews:

I bought this case for a home PC build with an Intel Core i7 CPU.

The quality of this case is absolutely amazing. The steel and aluminum material are excellent and not cheap and flimsy like some of the plastic covers out there.

This case is big, it is not very tall, but it is long, so keep that in mind. It has plenty of space for HDD's and the various components; with the large size providing ample room for good airflow. I particularly like the PSU being at the bottom because the motherboard and the add-on cards are easier to work with -- after you've put in the removable motherboard tray and don't want to take it out.

About the only thing I would change in this case would be to allow more space between the back cover and the chassis/motherboard tray so that you can route cables around the back easier. I routed as many of the cables behind the motherboard as I could, but some of the power cables are too thick and won't fit. As it is, the build is very tidy and clean with the window providing a nice look into the case.

Highly Recommended!

I needed a larger case with good airflow and room for hard drive expansion. This case definitely fits the bill.I found fit and finish to be excellent. The only real problem I ran into was that there were not enough holes for standoffs for my ASUS M4A785-M motherboard. Two of the eight holes (one under the PCI slots and the other near the SATA connectors at the bottom of the board) for mounting the MB were not there.I solved this by mounting two standoffs upside down in the MB itself to provide support. The other thing of note is that this case is really deep (a full 24 inches), but its a small price to pay for having room for eight 3.5 inch HDD internally.

Great mATX case.Sleek design. Many cases have clear sides with LED's all over the place. It's a computer case, not a spaceship. This one won't serve as a reading lamp for you in bed from your desk across the bedroom.

Built-in fan is whisper quiet and keeps the case quite cool.My single complaint is the difficulty in taking off the front plate. The bottom and sides unclip very easily, but unclipping the top I thought I might snap the front plate in two. However, since I've finished the build, I'll have no need to take the plate off again, so it's not a huge deal. I did need needle-nose pliers to unclip the top though.

Cooler Master HAF 932 High Air Flow ATX Full Tower Case Black - (RC-932-KKN1-GP) Review

Cooler Master HAF 932 High Air Flow ATX Full Tower Case Black -
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is best case that I've ever had. I wish it had a pull out motherboard tray but given the size of the case, it wasn't a necessity. The instruction manual has detailed diagrams (would of been nice if there was more wording but the diagrams give you enough insight on what to do).

This is a full tower case. It can handle Micro ATX to extended ATX. It's made of steel which makes this case heavy. There are no handles to grip the case but it's sturdy enough that you can lift it from any part. It's not the prettiest of cases, but it certainly gets the job done.

The case comes with 4 fans already mounted. There is no fan controller but the fans have the sockets that you can add a controller, connect it directly to the power supply unit, or connect it directly to the motherboard (if the motherboard's instructions allow it). I strongly recommend connecting the fans directly to the power supply unit. Above the large fan on your left sight (looking at the picture with the red fan facing you), there is a small clear window. It would of been nice if the window went all the way down. On the top of the case, there are connections for the USB, e-sata, power switch, reset, microphone, and speaker. You also have the option of adding wheels to the bottom of the case. I installed them and, they have a lock on them to prevent your case from moving (if the case is too heavy for the desk lol).

The box that the case came in, was huge! It's the size of a suitcase. The case, seems like the size of a small suitcase. You get the speaker wire, the manual, a lot of screws, the IO panel, plastic ties, and a map that shows where to put the motherboard and all the wires go out of. For instance, if you have a ATX motherboard, the map says to place the motherboard screws in A,B,C,D,F.G,H (just an example). If you put the map on the motherboard tray, you will see what screw is what letter. The wire management system in this case is amazing.

I have the EVGA SLI socket 1366 (i7) motherboard and I must say that there was so much room left in the case. Putting the motherboard in, was a snap. Laying out the wires to connect to the motherboard was easy and if you ever need to change the layout, there is enough room to work in within the case. I changed my wiring a few times until I thought it was good enough. When you turn on your system, it's not as loud as you would expect. In fact, it's quieter than my midtower that has my Core2Duo which I gave to my wife. Even when I'm playing FSX (all options set to Ultra High), it's still very quiet.

I must say, the case keeps my system freezing. I left my cup of tea near my case and within minutes, I had iced tea. The readings on my motherboard and on the BIOS screen show the CPU temperature at 19-21 degrees Celsius. While playing a game for several hours, the temperature stays to 20-21 degrees. Amazing. Feeling the side of the case and it feels like a refrigerator. Great case for an great price. Yes, it could be prettier, but it does it's job!

Concerning how loud this case is (if it is).I would definitely consider it not a loud case at all. With 4 huge fans; it's not an issue where you would have to turn up your speaker volume. The side vents towards the front, do a nice job "emptying" the heat coming from my hard drives, and my video card does a nice job isolating the heat generated from it and pushing it out the back. I would of chosen either this case or the Thermaltake Armor Plus case. After researching for a few weeks, everyone always pointed to this one. Yes, the Armor plus is prettier (the password for today lol) but you cannot go wrong with the CM HAF932. A great investment.

Wish List for this Tower:
- I wish it was aluminum
- Clear window on the whole side panel (it's like a bathroom window presently- If you can see from the picture, the see-through window stops at where the fan begins)
- Pull out moutherboard tray

If you have any qualms or questions, feel free to ask me in the comment section.

SilverStone Aluminum Front Panel/SECC Body MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case TJ08B - Retail (Black) Review

SilverStone Aluminum Front Panel/SECC Body MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case TJ08B - Retail
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First let me say that I bought this case knowing it was a micro-ATX case.

The Good:
#1 - The outside design and quality is awesome. This has to be my favorite looking SilverStone case yet.
#2 - The two included 120mm fans move a ton of air, but are whisper quiet. I can't hear them over the stock Intel CPU cooler fan.
#3 - Rounded/deburred edges...no more cut up and bloody hands! :-D
#4 - Removable motherboard tray.

The Bad:
#1 - The case is not "tool-less". You'll have to bust out the screwdriver for this case.
#2 - Poor 3.5" internal drive design. You can't use either of the external 3.5" drive bays to mount an internal HDD because the two drive covers are mounted like an actual drive, blocking any attempts to mount extra HDDs.
#2.5 - You can *NOT* use any RAM that has raised cooling fins. The internal HDD cage is centered in the case, so when I installed my RAM, the cooling fins on my RAM hit the HDD. If the HDD cage had be moved to the left most side of the cage, this wouldn't have been an issue.
#3 - SilverStone decided not to include their typical premium case feet. The case feet they *usually* use is akin to high-end AV equipment. The feet that come on this case are hard plastic...normally found on cheap-o cases.

Other thoughts:
#1 - The blue status indicator LEDs are Ultra-Super Bright LEDs. You don't need to turn the lights on, these two LEDs will light up the entire house. Ok, that's a little excessive, but they're *really* bright...and there's no need for that much overkill.
#2 - It looks like there might be a screen filter on the front intake fan...but to get to it, you would have to remove the entire front panel...something I don't want to have to do every time I clean the case.
#3 - This would be the perfect case if SilverStone would have put a little extra effort in to it. Hopefully the TJ08 will have a Full-ATX twin sometime soon.

For many, the Temjin series is a symbol of powerful full size tower cases, so when SilverStone engineers began working on a Micro-ATX tower case, they made sure it was as powerful as possible. The TJ08 was born with a setup that is simple yet unheard of in cases of its class. Equipped with dual 120mm fans and with only a short distance between them, a natural wind tunnel effect could be achieved to produce cooling efficiency rivaling the best full tower cases on the market. Besides having great cooling performance, the TJ08 is also an easy to use case with removable motherboard tray and logically placed buttons/connectors on its thick, beautifully finished aluminum front panel. If using top-of-the-line components in a micro tower was not an option before, it is now with the TJ08.

This is a nice case. Perfect for a media center, or a person in need of a PC tower that doesn't take up a lot of space.

Pros are the many vents, and the ability to place the tower vertical or horizontal. Has a large fan, doesn't spin all that fast, but it really doesn't need to being so big.

Cons are it's a tight fit for a full size board, but it will fit. Large graphics cards fit, but it's tight. Any graphics card with a fan that extents 2ins past the top of board will not fit in case. So getting it all in there was a pain, but the case is so nice to look at.

I bought one, and then decided to buy one more after building the first.

Cooler Master ATCS 840 Aluminum ATX Full Tower Case Black - (RC-840-KKN1-GP) Review

Cooler Master ATCS 840 Aluminum ATX Full Tower Case Black -

I've built maybe eight or nine PCs over the years, and previously favored Addtronics full or server tower cases.I like lots of room in a case so it's easy to work in, there's room for anything I might ever want to add, and there's plenty of space for good air flow.I thought those were excellent cases, but moving up to the ATCS 840 is like jumping from a 1939 pickup truck to a late model luxury SUV.Every detail of the layout and construction of this case demonstrates superb engineering. The immense 230mm fans move a ton of air, but do it while spinning far more slowly than smaller fans have to.That means little noise, and what there is is much lower pitched and unobtrusive.Just one of the engineering details is nice, easily removable, easy to clean filters for each intake fan.I could go on and on, but you can find a number of extensive reviews with large numbers of closeup photos online.Just Google for "ATCS 840 review".All the sites catering to serious builders and overclockers have reviews of this case, simply because it's one of the best to come along in quite a while. The only other brand with build quality to match this case would be Lian Li, and you should see what some of those cost. One last comment: if you're an adult who doesn't want a case that looks like it was designed to appeal to 14 year-olds, you will appreciate the clean elegant style of this case.I can tell you that it looks even better in the flesh than it does in the photos.

GAMMA Classic Series ATX Mid Tower Interior Steel Chassis (Black) Review

For a full analysis of this box, search benchmarkreviews and gamma. They like it very much and that's what convinced me to give it a shot. I don't disagree with them, but I have a slightly difference perspective:

Let me say that my plans for this case are to build a file server. I like that it will hold several hard drives comfortably, and that they are designed so that a front intake fan will cool them. Because this will be on all of the time, I am going to use a low-ish power AMD chip (65 watts), and the dedicated graphics of a Gigabyte motherboard. I like the openness of the case as the heat won't be at all trapped inside the case and that will let me use few and slow fans, making minimal noise.

1) This is an inexpensive case, and the thickness of the metal reflects that: this is not a case that will take much physical abuse. To be fair, part of that is because it's a hugely 'open' case - loads of mesh, including left side, top, front, etc. That's either good or bad depending on your feelings on how to handle air/heat management.

2) This is a beautifully designed case, with features you'd never expect on an inexpensive mid-tower case, such as the all-black interior, eSata port on the front panel, mesh grills for the fans, etc. Also, since I'll be putting it on the floor, and sort of tucked away, I like that the front ports (USB, eSata, power, etc) are on an angled plane such that they are easier to access from above. The PSU is on the bottom of the case, so this could possibly be an issue in terms of the power cable reaching the motherboard, but I don't think it will be for any decent PSU. It's a very handsome case with a blue led stripe of light on the front that's both appealing and reserved.

All in all, this is a cleverly designed case that tries to use good design to compensate for the cheap-ish materials and it mostly does so. I'd like heavier metal, but you don't get great metal at this price, and this should work. Features and looks-wise, this is a lot of case for the money. The one thing that they clearly cheaped-out on that bothers me is the power button: it feels very flimsy. I have no reason to think that it'll break, but each time you press it you're going to be aware of how cheap it is.

The AZZA Solano case has more than adequate airflow, looks good, is solidly built, and did I say it looks good too? This case is large, so make sure you have room for it.The internal space is huge, allowing for easy spacing ofgear.I have 4 hard drives, a full size 775 mother board, Intel quad core, 1GB video card, a dvd, floppy and a blu-ray drive. And there is room for much more. The fans are QUIET.With the system under full load, you can hardly hear the fans!It is obviously made for a floor install, since the controls are mounted on top, and it is very convenient to use.I have built many computers for business and pleasure, and this case is the best so far.Nicely done, AZZA!
